#18/20 Terps Win at St. Joseph's 74-60

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The No. 18/20 Maryland women's basketball team won its 12th straight game Sunday afternoon with a 74-60 win at St. Joseph's. Freshman Alyssa Thomas led the Terrapins with her career-high 22 points.

Thomas was 7-for-12 from the line and made eight of her nine free throws. Sophomore Diandra Tchatchouang notched her second double-double of the year with 12 points and 13 boards, and junior Lynetta Kizer scored 11 with 10 rebounds. Kim Rodgers notched 10 points, including two three's.

The Terrapins trailed by as much as six in the first half. A layup by Ilze Gotfrida put the Hawks up 20-14 with just under 11 minutes remaining in the half. Thomas scored eight points to give the Terps a 32-29 lead at the break.

A layup by Anjale Barrett at 12:54 in the second half put Maryland up 50-41. The Hawks would not get within five points for the remainder of the game.

Maryland won the battle inside with 48 rebounds to St. Joseph's 30 and grabbed 17 offensive boards to the Hawks' 10.

The Terps scored 32 points in the paint, while the Hawks scored just 12. Maryland had 18 second chance points, while St. Joseph's did not have any.

Sophomore Dara Taylor, Tchatchouang and Rodgers each dished four assists.

Katie Kuester led the Hawks with 23 points, including four three's.

The Terrapins will open Atlantic Coast Conference play Thursday at No. 3/3 Duke at 7 p.m. Thursday's game will be televised on the Raycom Sports Network and will be broadcast on WMUCSports.com.
