MIAMI - Laurin Mincy and Lynetta Kizer scored 15 points each to lead No. 8 Maryland to an 84-52 win at Florida International on Friday night in the FIU Thanksgiving Classic at U.S. Century Bank Arena.

Kizer went 6-for-9 from the foul line and Mincy went 5-for-6 with two three's.

"The two threes were really crucial," Mincy said. "I think it kind of put a dagger on them, although they kept playing."

The Terrapins (6-0) were never threatened after a late-first half run and then expanded a 44-30 lead at halftime with an 18-7 spurt in the opening 6:41 of the second half.

Alyssa Thomas scored six points during the run and Alicia DeVaughn's inside field goal with 13:19 remaining capped the surge and gave the Terrapins a 62-37 advantage.

"I love the fact that we're really unselfish with the inside-outside game," Maryland coach Brenda Frese said. "Any time you can have five players on the floor that can score, defend and rebound you're going to have a very good team. Obviously, they are a lot of fun to watch."

Thomas finished with 12 points and Tianna Hawkins scored all 13 of her points in the first half.

"My teammates did a good job of finding the open (player) inside and we did a pretty decent job of finishing," said Hawkins, who shot 6-of-6 from the field. "I had good focus and my teammates helped me for the open layups."

Jerica Coley scored 19 of her 24 points in the first half to lead Florida International (2-3).

As a team, Maryland dished a season-high 25 assists, including 10 from redshirt senior guard Anjale Barrett.

The Terrapins held an 35-23 advantage on the boards and beat the Golden Panthers in the paint 32-11.

Both teams committed 18 turnovers, but the Terps were able to capitalize for 26 points off the Panthers' giveaways, while FIU scored just 10 off the Terrapins'.

The Terps will play Cal State Bakersfield (2-3) Saturday at 2 p.m. in the FIU Thanksgiving Classic. Live stats will be available and both games will be broadcast on FIUSports.com for a fee.

After their trip to Miami, the Terrapins return home to play host to Michigan (6-0) Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
