TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 16 Maryland fell short of No. 16 Florida State 72-66 at the Tucker Center Sunday afternoon. Freshman Alyssa Thomas led the Terrapins (21-6, 7-5 ACC) with a career high 26 points while junior Lynetta Kizer added 17 points and 10 rebounds.

Thomas was 11-for-22 from the field and added six rebounds and two steals. Kizer shot 50 percent from the field as well (8-for-16), and notched her eighth double-double of the year. Kizer has hit double figures in in 10 of 12 ACC matchups.

Cierra Bravard and Chelsea Davis each scored 14 points to lead the Seminoles.

The Terps led 9-1 early on before the Seminoles took the lead 24-22 with 7:23 remaining in the half. Florida State led 36-28 at half with Chasity Clayton and Davis each scoring nine points.

The Terrapins outscored the Seminoles 38-36 in the second half and held them without a field goal from the 6:23 mark on. Maryland cut it to three 45-42 with a layup by Tianna Hawkins with 12:35 left in the game.

Maryland cut it to four twice in the remaining minute, but free throws by Florida State senior Courtney Ward kept the Seminoles ahead.

The Terrapins held the advantage inside, outrebounding the Seminoles 51-45 and scoring 44 points in the paint to FSU's 22.

The Terps notched eight blocks in the game, with Alicia DeVaughn leading with four.

Anjale Barrett, the ACC's assist leader in conference games, led the Terrapins with four assists.
