    COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The fourth-seeded Maryland women's basketball team will play 13th-seeded St. Francis (Pa.) Sunday at 12:20 p.m. in the NCAA Women's Basketball First Round at Comcast Center.

    Tickets to Sunday's game, as well as tickets to all sessions, are available at umterps.com. Parking will be free in the lots surrounding Comcast Center.

    The Terps-Red Flash game will be shown on ESPN 2 and ESPN3.com.

    Also traveling to College Park will be fifth-seeded Georgetown and 12th-seeded Princeton, who will play Sunday approximately 30 minutes after the end of the Terps-Red Flash game. The winners of the Maryland-St. Francis and Georgetown-Princeton games will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22. The winner of the College Park site will head to Philadelphia for the East Regional Semifinals and Finals next weekend.

    The Terrapins (23-7, 9-5 ACC) earned the 19th NCAA Tournament appearance in school history. Maryland is 26-17 all-time in NCAA Tournament games, including 10-2 in games played in College Park.

    The Terps have made seven NCAA Tournament appearances in head coach Brenda Frese's nine years in College Park. In her 12 years as a head coach, Frese's teams have made eight NCAA Tournament appearances. She's coached her teams to four Sweet Sixteens (1999, 2006, 2008, 2009), four Elite Eights (1999, 2006, 2008, 2009) and the 2006 National Championship. She is 16-6 as a head coach in the NCAA Tournament.

    Maryland finished the year ranked No. 16 in the Associated Press poll and was fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

    The Red Flash (22-11, 14-4 NEC) claimed an automatic bid with 72-57 win over Monmouth Sunday in the Northeast Conference championship. St. Francis captured its NEC record 11th league title and has won back-to-back championships.

    LAST TIME OUT...

  • The Terrapins fell to fifth-seeded Georgia Tech 70-64 in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tournament on March 4.
  • Junior Kim Rodgers led with 13 points off of 3-for-6 shooting from outside the arc.
  • Freshman Alyssa Thomas scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds. Of junior Lynetta Kizer's nine points, seven were from the foul line. She went 7-for-8.
  • Maryland scored 30 points off of Georgia Tech's 25 turnovers.
  • The first half alone featured six ties, 12 lead changes and a big run by each team.
  • Maryland trailed by nine, 28-19 in the first half. A jumper by Tianna Hawkins jumpstarted a 10-0 run that would give the Terps a 29-28 lead at the break. Maryland's 22-2 run that spanned intermission gave the Terrapins a 41-30 lead less than four minutes into the second period. Georgia Tech fought back to take a 56-47 lead with a 26-6 run.

    TERPS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT

  • This year marks Maryland's 19th appearance in the NCAA Tournament and seventh under head coach Brenda Frese.
  • Maryland is 27-17 all-time in the NCAA Tournament, including an 11-2 record in games played in College Park.
  • Only three Terrapins have played in the NCAA Tournament - Lynetta Kizer, Anjale Barrett and Kim Rodgers.

  • The Terps are No. 4 in the country in rebounding margin (+12.3).
  • Three Terps finished in the top 20 in the ACC in rebounding. Lynetta Kizer came in at No. 9 (7.7) and freshman Alyssa Thomas was No. 11 (7.2). Alicia DeVaughn ended up at No. 20 (5.6 rpg).
  • Thomas finished at No. 5 the ACC in rebounding in conference games (8.4) and Kizer was tied for No. 6 (8.2). Thomas led in offensive rebounding (3.8) in league games. She also led all freshmen in rebounding.
  • As a team, the Terps led the league in offensive rebounding percent (.458). They average 18.0 offensive boards per conference game.
  • The Terrapins have won the battle on the boards in 26 of 30 games. They have grabbed 1372 rebounds to their opponents' 1003.

    ALL HANDS ON DECK

  • Eight Terrapins are averaging over 15.0 minutes per game.
  • The Terrapins have had six different starting lineups through 30 games this season.
  • Maryland's bench averages 23.6 points per game to their opponents' 17.5. The Terrapins' bench has outscored its opponents' bench in 20 of the 30 games this season.

    MILESTONE UPDATES

  • Kim Rodgers became the ninth player in Maryland history to hit 100 three's on Feb. 27 at Boston College.
  • Anjale Barrett and Tianna Hawkins each broke the 500-point mark against NC State.
  • Junior Lynetta Kizer broke the 1000-point mark against No. 17/17 St. John's with 13 points in the game. She is the 26th Terrapin to break the mark.
  • Head coach Brenda Frese earned her 200th win at Maryland Nov. 21 vs. American. She reached that mark faster than any coach in Maryland women's basketball history.
  • Now in her ninth season in College Park, Frese's record is 220-80. (.733).

    TOUGH PLACE TO PLAY

  • According to national survey of Sports Information Directors this fall, Comcast Center was named one of the country's top ten toughest places to play. No other ACC school made the top ten.
  • The Terps have won 83.2 percent of their games in Comcast Center (124-25) since it opened in 2002.
  • Maryland has led the ACC in attendance since 2007.

    TEAM TYLER

  • In September, Coach Frese's two-year old son, Tyler Thomas, was diagnosed leukemia.
  • To help with leukemia awareness, a group of former Maryland players from the 2006 national championship team, including Marissa Coleman, Shay Doron, Laura Harper and Kristi Toliver, are starting a foundation called Team Tyler.
  • Some of the Terps' opponents this year, including the coaches from Purdue, the SAC from Loyola, the coaches at UMBC and Duke, as well as Georgia Tech, have made contributions to Team Tyler.
  • The Terrapins will be wearing green ribbons on their warmup shirts this season in honor of leukemia awareness.
