Edsall to Serve as Friendship Walk Chairman

April 20, 2011

BALTIMORE - Best Buddies Maryland announced Tuesday that Maryland's Randy Edsall will participate in this year's Friendship Walk on Saturday, May 7. Edsall, Maryland's first-year head coach, will serve as the honorary chairman.

He will speak the morning of the walk and be on hand to meet and greet walkers outside of the Ritchie Coliseum on the Maryland campus. Registration and check-in will begin at 9 a.m. and the one or two-mile walk will begin at 10 a.m.

"We are honored and humbled to have Coach Edsall join us as our Honorary Chairman," said Best Buddies State Director Vince Fiduccia. "Coach Edsall brings a powerful presence to our mission."

The Best Buddies Friendship Walk is a fun-filled community fund-raiser to support your local Best Buddies programs of inclusion. Our friendship, integrated employment, and leadership programs educate people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities to be advocates for social inclusion in your community.

The Friendship Walk is open to the public and provides multiple opportunities to be involved as a participant or team captain or as a sponsor to help build a stronger foundation for a better society.

Following the walk, the University of Maryland Best Buddies chapter will serve as host to the Friendship Games, a carnival-style family event, inside of Ritchie Coliseum until 2 p.m.
