COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's soccer team continued its spring season Friday night at home with a 2-1 victory over Georgetown.

For the second consecutive spring game, the Terps were tied 0-0 midway through the second half. On this night, junior Jasmyne Spencer picked up a loose ball in midfield, and dribbled thirty yards right at the heart of Georgetown's back line, before laying a ball off to her right to fellow junior Ashley Grove. Grove's serve into the box landed nicely to Lydia Hastings, who deftly punched the ball into the back of the net, over the Georgetown goalkeeper, who was caught off her line in an attempt to make a play on Grove's cross.

Less than 10 minutes later, the Terps extended their lead to 2-0 as sophomore Megan Gibbons served a ball from just beyond midfield, over the top of Georgetown's back line to the far post. It appeared that Georgetown's goalkeeper would snatch up Gibbons' service, but sophomore Olivia Wagner was able to beat her to the ball, and pull it back across to Grove, who calmy struck the ball into the lower left corner of the goal.

Georgetown cut Maryland's lead in half with just over one minute remaining, but the Hoyas efforts to tie the game fell short.

The Terps are back in action as they take on ACC rival Virginia next Saturday, April 9 at the Kicks Against Breast Cancer Tournament in Germantown, Md. The match-up is slated as the featured game of the day, taking place on the stadium field at the SoccerPlex at 4 p.m.
