COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Torrey Smith will not have to travel far to continue his football career.

The former Maryland wide receiver was chosen with the 26th pick in the second round (58th overall selection) of the NFL Draft by the Baltimore Ravens.

Smith was the fifth wideout taken in the draft and the second Terp selected in the top two rounds over the last three seasons (Darrius Heyward-Bey, seventh overall in 2009 by Oakland).

Over the last nine NFL Drafts, there have been seven Maryland players selected in the top two rounds.

Smith was one of the most productive players in both school and Atlantic Coast Conference history.

A 2010 first team All-ACC selection at wide receiver, he ranks third on the Terps career receptions list (152) and second on the receiving yards chart (2,215).

The native of Colonial Beach, Va., is also second in school history with 19 career touchdown receptions.

Despite leaving school with one year of eligibility remaining, Smith ranks seventh on the ACC charts in career all-purpose yards (5,264) and ranks first in both school history and on the league books in career kickoff return yards (2,983)

Other Terps from last year's squad hopeful of playing professionally include:

    Travis Baltz
    Adrian Cannon
    Michael Carter
    Drew Gloster
    Emani Lee-Odai
    Adrian Moten
    Antwine Perez
    Paul Pinegar
    Da'Rel Scott
    LaQuan Williams

    Will Yeatman

Rounds four through seven of the NFL Draft are scheduled for Saturday. Coverage begins at noon on ESPN.
