CORAL GABLES, Fla. - The No. 43 ranked Maryland men's tennis team was defeated by No. 24 Miami 7-0 on Friday afternoon.

Jesse Kiuru, who was on a four-match winning streak for the Terps (10-9, 2-6), fell to Miami's Eduardo Pavia, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 3 singles. Kiuru also partnered with Andy Magee in doubles, but the pair was defeated by the Hurricane's (13-5, 7-1) tandem of Keith Crowley and Omar Aly, 9-7.

Magee later took on Miami's Diego Soto at No. 6 singles, but was eventually defeated in a tight match 6-4, 6-4. Soto's victory sealed the match for the Hurricanes.

Maros Horny, who is currently ranked 86th in singles play, was defeated by Christian Blocker, 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 at the No. 1 position.

Sergio Wyss had Maryland's best chance to steal a point, but he was knocked off by Miami's Carl Sundberg 5-7, 6-2, 9-7 at No. 3 singles.

The win moved Miami into sole possession of second place in the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Terps will continue their road trip Sunday as they take on No. 41 Florida State (8-11, 3-5). The match will be played at noon in Tallahassee, Fla. and is key for seeding at the ACC Championships. The Seminoles are tied for seventh in the league standings and the Terps are one game back in a tied for ninth. Click here for live stats.
