The University of Maryland women's soccer team was presented with the CHAMPS/Lifeskills Cup Sunday at the President's Cup Brunch held at the Riggs Alumni Center.
The CHAMPS/Lifeskills Cup is given to the men's and women's teams that were distinguished in academic and athletic excellence, commitment to career and personal development and commitment to community service. The wrestling team won the men's Cup.
A number of individual awards for community service, athletics achievement and academic success were also presented at the brunch. Among winners was women's soccer's Caitlin McDowell, who took home the Charles H. Beebe Jr. Award, which is presented to the female senior letterwinner with highest career GPA.
The women's soccer team also had two student-athletes recognized for their work in the community. Junior Sade Ayinde was one of 10 Terps to receive ICA Community Service Awards, while senior Yewande Balogun won an ACC Community Service Award.
Also awarded on Sunday were the President's Cup, which is given to the the men's and women's team with the highest overall cumulative grade point average in the prior two semester. The women's golf team repeated as winners and the men's tennis team won for the first time in four years.
The women's golf team earned a combined GPA of 3.29, earning the honor for the second consecutive year. It edged women's tennis (3.26) and gymnastics (3.15) for the award.
The men's tennis team posted a 3.12 cumulative GPA in the previous two semesters in winning for the first time since 2007. Cross country (3.05) and swimming & diving (3.02) were also at the top of the list. The eight awards won by men's tennis in the 15-year history of the event are the most of any men's sport.
Terrapin alumna Christy Winters Scott was the master of ceremonies for the brunch, which was co-sponsored by the M Club and the Terrapin Club.

John W. Guckeyson Award (scholarship, leadership and superior athletic ability) - Grant Catalino, men's lacrosse
Founders Award (outstanding athletic ability, academic character, citizenship) - Kiani Profit, women's track and field
James H. Kehoe Award (Maryland senior symbolizing commitment, dedication, spirit and the will to win) - Amanda Himmelheber, field hockey
Silvester Watch (athlete who typifies the best in college athletics) - Grant Catalino, men's lacrosse
Maryland Watch (male athlete of the year from the State of Maryland) - Adrian Bowie, men's basketball
Suzanne Tyler Award (female athlete of the year) - Katie O'Donnell, field hockey
Geary F. Eppley Award (senior letterwinner with highest scholastic average) - Mitch Challacombe, men's swimming
Charles H. Beebe Jr. Award (letterwinner with highest career GPA) - Caitlin McDowell, women's soccer
