COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Due to overwhelming demand, Maryland Athletics has made 10 helmets and 10 jerseys from the Maryland Pride collection, worn by the football team on Labor Day vs. Miami, available for auction.

The process opened the morning of Friday, Sept. 9. Bidding started at $500 for the helmets and $200 for the jerseys. Proceeds will benefit Maryland Athletics.

Bidding on the 20 items will end at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 19. The auction page is located here.

The team wore its 'Maryland Pride' uniforms, which are inspired by characteristics specific to the Maryland state flag and the University of Maryland, for the Miami game.

The jersey numbers, cleats, and gloves all feature a custom Maryland flag print. From head-to-toe, the right and left sides of the uniform coordinate with the two patterns found on the state's flag including a custom helmet.

The 'Pride' uniform, designed by Under Armour, pays homage to the special Terrapin football heritage and to those who have taken the field as a Terp since the beginning of the football program.

The uniform also features the best technology:
    • The new UA COMPFIT PRIDE JERSEY... tight where it needs to be with no drag, no grab and more flexibility. This jersey was built for speed!
    • The Terps' UA COMPFIT PRIDE PANTS are built with muscle-boosting, core-stabilizing technology.
    • UA GRABTACK PRIDE GLOVES are scientifically proven to have twice the grip!
    • The Terps' custom PRIDE cleats all come down to one thing... Speed! Each version was built with UA's Micro G® cushioning to give players more bounce so they are quick off the line for every play.

The Terps (1-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), who downed Miami, 32-24, on Labor Day before a sold-out crowd at Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium, face interstate rival West Virginia at noon on Saturday, Sept. 17. Tickets are available through the Maryland Athletics ticket office (1-800-462-TERP) or by clicking here.

    Terp Notes:

Inside Maryland Football Debuts Saturday: Inside Maryland Football, a 30-minute weekly show which goes behind the scenes with the Terps, debuts at 11 a.m. Saturday on Comcast SportsNet Mid-Atlantic (note: originally scheduled to air at 11:30 a.m.). The show will air at 11 a.m. each Saturday during the regular season, except Sept. 17 due the off-week. The shows will also be available through Terps TV after airing.

O'Brien Wins Weekly Manning Award: Sophomore quarterback Danny O'Brien has been selected as the first Manning Award Player of the Week for 2011. The top quarterback performances in the nation are selected each week and then fans vote on Facebook for what they think was the best effort of the week. The winner of the fan balloting earns the Manning weekly honor. The award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
