Terps Look to Continue ACC Momentum

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Following its first conference win of the season against Boston College, the Maryland men's tennis team travels to Clemson and Georgia Tech this weekend for a pair of ACC clashes. The Terps take on the 63rd-ranked Tigers Friday, March 23 at 2:30 p.m., and face the 69th-ranked Yellow Jackets Sunday, March 25 at noon.
Maryland
The Terps (4-9, 1-2 ACC) split back-to-back home matches last weekend against Boston College and No. 25 Oklahoma. Against the Eagles, Maryland won 5 of 6 singles matches en route to a 6-1 victory.
On Sunday against the Sooners, 36th-ranked Maros Horny and John Collins upset 18th-ranked Costin Paval and Dane Webb in doubles action, and Tommy Laine and Vlad Stefan dispatched of 68th-ranked Tsvetan Mihov and Peerakit Siributwong to secure the doubles point for the Terps. But Oklahoma won 5 of 6 singles matches to earn a 5-2 victory.
Freshman Vlad Stefan enters the weekend the winner of 2 of his last 3 matches. Junior Tommy Laine snapped a three-match losing streak against David Pultr of Oklahoma Sunday.
In doubles, Horny and Collins have won 6 of 8 including two wins over nationally-ranked opponents.
Series History
Clemson leads the all-time series against Maryland, 43-15, but the Terps won last season's meeting in College Park, 5-2.
Georgia Tech has won 26 of 32 meetings with Maryland including last season's 5-2 win in College Park.

The Tigers have won two in a row with both wins coming against ACC foes, Georgia Tech and Miami.
No. 49 Yannick Maden leads the Tigers in singles play. He is 8-2 this spring at the No.1 position and 19-5 this year.
Maden teams with Zachary Rigsby to form Clemson's No. 1 doubles team. The duo is ranked 53rd and is 4-4 in dual action.
Georgia Tech

The Yellow Jackets earned their first ACC win of the spring with a 7-0 defeat of Miami on March 13. The Jackets will face Boston College Friday before the Terps arrive in Atlanta.
Tech has a solid 1-2 combination at the top of the singles lineup in All-American Kevin King, the nation's 13th-ranked player in singles, and Juan Spir, ranked No. 101. King has played very well this spring at the top singles position in the Tech lineup, building an 11-2 record with his only losses coming to the nation's second and 10th-ranked players. Spir has an 8-5 mark this spring.
Tech has swept all three doubles matches in each of its last two outings. King and Spir, the nation's No. 2-ranked doubles team, has lost just once this spring, to Wisconsin, and are 11-1.
