#1 Notre Dame 80, #2 Maryland 49

Head Coach Brenda Frese

Opening statement:
"Obviously tonight was Notre Dame's night, I thought they were spectacular. They really did a tremendous job on all ends of the floor. They beat us at our rebounding game and destroyed us on the glass. A difficult night obviously for us getting into any kind of rhythm, I thought we looked really tired and I think a lot of that was having to come back in the Texas A&M game from being down 18. I felt like our energy and effort was spent in the game before. I told the team in the locker that I appreciate the journey and the ride that we got to spend this season. I couldn't have asked for a better team in terms of how committed everyone was this season, our seniors leave with two Elite Eight finishes and two ACC championships."

Sophomore Alyssa Thomas

On what Notre Dame did to win the battle on the boards:
"They beat us at our own game tonight. They crashed the offensive boards hard and we weren't boxing them out. Then on the offensive for us we didn't get a chance to pull down rebounds because the boxed us out well."

On Notre Dame's 14-0 run in the first half:
"They just tightened up the defensive end, they got steals, and capitalized on the offensive end."

Senior Anjale Barrett

On if there was a point in which they thought the lead was unsurmountable:
"Absolutely not. We didn't stop fighting to the end. Our motto is fight to finish. It didn't matter if we were down 30, 40, or 50 we were going to go down fighting and that's what we did."

Kim Rodgers

On her thoughts on the season:
"We had a phenomenal season. We had a lot of good wins this years, a lot of comeback wins. We just weren't able to get it done tonight. We have been to two elite eight's, two ACC Championships, and we are champions in our own right. It's not fun sitting here and say we didn't get to the final four but we accomplished a lot. We are leaving a lot of good things for the underclassmen to move forward with next year."
