Terps Welcome FSU and Miami to College Park

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's tennis team plays host to a pair of ACC rivals this weekend. The Terps will face the 28th-ranked Florida State Seminoles Friday, March 30 at 2:30 p.m., and close the weekend with a match against the 51st-ranked Miami Hurricanes Sunday, April 1 at noon. Both matches will be played at the Cole Field House Tennis Courts.
Maryland
The Terps (4-11, 1-4 ACC) lost a pair of matches to conference foes last weekend on the road. Last Friday, the Terrapins fell 4-2 to 64th-ranked Clemson and lost 4-3 to 62nd-ranked Georgia Tech on Sunday. The Terps handed the Yellow Jackets its first team defeat in doubles play since Feb. 25.
For Maryland, senior Maros Horny and junior John Collins defeated a pair of ranked opponents in doubles action. The tandem dispatched of then-No. 53 Yannick Maden and Ayrton Wibowo of Clemson Friday, and ended the weekend with an upset of then-No. 4 Kevin King and Juan Spir of Georgia Tech. It was Horny and Collins' third consecutive victory over a ranked doubles team.
The recent string of success has not gone unnoticed. Horny and Collins moved into the top 25 of the ITA College Tennis Rankings this week. The duo checks in at No. 24.
The Terps have been strong this spring in doubles. Maryland is 59-26 in dual play. In addition to Horny and Collins, junior Tommy Lain and freshman Vlad Stefan are 8-2 and have won five in a row, while juniors Jesse Kiuru and Andy Magee are 8-3.
In singles, freshman Vlad Stefan got back into the win column in Atlanta. Stefan snapped a two-match losing streak and knocked off then-No. 112 Juan Spir of Georgia Tech in straight sets.
Series History
Florida State holds a 22-2 edge over Maryland in the all-time series.
Maryland trails the all-time series with the Hurricanes, 9-0.

Florida State has won 4 of 5, with its only loss coming to No. 21 Oklahoma, and is undefeated in conference action. The Seminoles knocked off Wake Forest, 5-2, and No. 33 NC State, 4-3, last weekend.
In singles, the Seminoles are 70-22 in dual play led by Blake Davis and Andres Cotrone. Davis is 13-6 this spring, but is 13-4 playing primarily out of the No. 2 spot. Cotrone is 15-1 in dual action and has split time at No. 3 and No. 4.
Florida State has used several doubles combinations this season. As a team, Florida State is 36-10 with Benjamin Lock and Bucaro leading the charge. The duo is 15-3 in the spring.
Miami

Miami is looking to earn its second straight ACC win at Boston College Friday after defeating Wake Forest this past Sunday. The Hurricanes were able to rebound to defeat the Demon Deacons 4-3 after a loss to NC State.
The Hurricanes are 43-41 in singles action this spring. Gabriel Flores is the primary player at No. 1. Flores is 5-8 this season. Diego Soto has been the most consistent player with a 10-3 mark playing at several spots in the lineup.
In doubles, Miami is 15-26. Flores and Soto are 6-7 playing at No. 2.
