NEW YORK, N.Y. -
Center Lynetta Kizer of the Maryland women's basketball team is one of 15 of the world's top female prospects invited to attend the WNBA Draft Monday.
The Draft, presented by Boost Mobile, will be held at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn. ESPN2 will provide coverage and analysis of the first round beginning at 2 p.m. ET; in addition, ESPN3 will simulcast the entire Draft. The second and third rounds will be televised on ESPNU and NBA TV.
The other players invited are Stanford forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike, Tennessee's Glory Johnson, Shekinna Stricklen and Vicki Baugh, Miami (Fla.) guards Shenise Johnson and Riquna Williams, guard Natalie Novosel and forward Devereaux Peters of Notre Dame, Tiffany Hayes (Connecticut), Samantha Prahalis (Ohio State), LaSondra Barrett (Louisiana State), Kayla Standish (Gonzaga), Julie Wojta (Wisconsin-Green Bay), and Sasha Goodlett (Georgia Tech).
Kizer was a three-time All-ACC Team honoree and the league Sixth Player of the Year in her senior season. Her 1,621 career points put her at No. 8 in school record books and her 958 career rebounds rank her at No. 4 in Maryland history in rebounds.
In her career as a Terrapin, she helped lead Maryland to three NCAA Tournament appearances, two Elite Eights and two ACC championships.
Maryland (31-5) ended its season winning 10 of its last 11 games. The Terrapins won the program's 10th ACC title earlier this month and notched the fourth 30-win season in school history. They advanced to their ninth Elite Eight and fourth in head coach Brenda Frese's 10 years.
