COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Chapter of Uplifting Athletes will hold its third annual 'Lift For Life' event on Saturday, April 28, as part of the Maryland Day activities.

The 'uplifting' strength and conditioning competition begins at 10 a.m. and will feature members of the Terrapin football team. The event will be followed by a team autograph session.

"Lift For Life" will be held on the football practice field which is adjacent to Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium. Admission and parking are free. Click here to view the campus parking map.

The Maryland Chapter of Uplifting Athletes has chosen to help fight cystic fibrosis, a rare disease that affects near 30,000 Americans. Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic rare disease that affects the lungs and digestive system by producing unusually thick mucus; the condition can clog the lungs and lead to a life-threatening lung infection and can obstruct the pancreas and stop natural enzymes from helping the body break down and absorb food.

The chapter's goal is to raise awareness and funding for cystic fibrosis and donate any contributions made by spectators and fans at the event to the Boomer Esiason Foundation for cystic fibrosis research.

You can get involved by supporting the team and emailing friends and family about the upcoming event. Take action today to help people with diseases that are all too often forgotten.

Last year's event (July 12) raised nearly $9,000 which was almost triple the 2010 output.
