#7 Maryland 75, Clemson 45
No. 7 Maryland recorded its 20th win of the 2012-13 campaign with a 75-45 win over Clemson Thursday, February 14 at the Comcast Center. This marks the team's ninth straight season with 20+ wins.
The Terps (20-4, 11-2 ACC) improved to 41-24 all-time against the Tigers (6-18, 2-11 ACC) and became winners of the 13th straight in the series.
Senior forward Tianna Hawkins got off to a quick start for the Terrapins recording eight of the team's first 10 points. The ACC leading scorer continued on a tear, finishing with 30 points and 12 rebounds.
Hawkins needed only 17 minutes to record the Terps' 28th double-double of the season, scoring 17 points and grabbing 10 boards in the first half.
After sitting early in the first half with two fouls, junior forward Alyssa Thomas went on a tear to start the second half hitting her first five shots and ending with 17 points.
A number of Terrapins tied for recorded career highs. Freshman center Sequoia Austin played a career high 26 minutes for the Terps, besting her previous high of 21 set against Brown earlier this season on Dec. 28.
Continuing their dominance on the boards, Maryland outrebounded the Tigers 45-30 and have outrebounded every opponent this season.
Both teams wore pink for the Valentine's Day matchup to support Play4Kay and breast cancer awareness. All breast cancer survivors received free admission to the game.
