Record Crowd Sees UNC Blank Maryland
COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- A Ludwig Field crowd of 4,380 fans saw the No. 19 Maryland women's soccer team fall to No. 1 North Carolina. The crowd was the largest in the three-year history of Ludwig Field for both men's and women's games.
North Carolina's sophomore Lorie Schwoy got the scoring started 28:51 into the game to give the Tar Heels the only goal of the first half. Junior Cindy Parlow scored 10:27 into the second half and freshman Raven McDonald scored 2:14 later to give the Tar Heels a 3-0 lead. Senior Nel Fettig scored with 27:50 into the second half to finish the scoring at 4-0.
Maryland freshman goalkeepers Riki-Ann Serrins and Alli Wolff combined for ten saves.
The Terps now have a record of 6-4-2 and are 2-1 in the ACC. The Tar Heels are 12-0-1 and 2-0 in the ACC.
The Terps will face No. 9 Clemson on Sunday afternoon at Ludwig Field. The game will begin at 2:00.
