Terps Down Wake Forest at Puma Tournament
COLLEGE PARK, MD -- The 13th-ranked Maryland women's soccer team (4-1) defeated No. 22 Wake Forest (4-1) in the first day of the Puma Tournament at Ludwig Field tonight.
Junior forward Keri Sarver (Massilion, Oh.) became the leading scorer on Maryland's all-time list as she scored her sixth and seventh goals of the season.
The scoring was opened by senior forward Michelle Deville (Bethesda, Md.), who scored her second goal of the season 28:39 into the game. Sophomore midfielder Lindsay Basalyga (Cincinnati, Oh.) scored her second goal of the game to give the Terps a 2-0 lead early in the second half.
Freshman goalkeeper Alli Wolff (Richmond, Va.) collected her third shutout of the season. Wolff saved seven shots on the night.
The Terps continue the Puma Tournament on Sunday afternoon, when they hot Pennsylvania at 3:00. Pennsylvania won their season opener this afternoon, 1-0 against Loyola (MD) in the opener of the doubleheader. Loyola and Wake Forest will open the action on Sunday at 1:00.
