Terrapins Remain Perfect With Win Over Pittsburgh in Rainbow Classic

HONOLULU, Hawaii - Keith Booth scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half as number 21 Maryland rallied to remain unbeaten, posting a 66-63 victory over Pittsburgh in the first round of the Rainbow Classic at Honolulu, Hawaii.

Obinna Ekezie added nine points for the Terrapins (10-0), who are off to their best start since going 11-0 in the 1975-76 season en route to a 22-6 finish. Maryland will play the winner of the game between host Hawaii and Northwestern in the semifinals on Sunday.

Jason Maile scored 29 points and Kellii Taylor added nine for Pittsburgh (5-6), which had a four-game winning streak snapped. The Panthers held a six-point halftime lead and were tied with less than 10 minutes to play. Maryland leads the all-time series, 4-1, and has won the last three meetings. The Panthers jumped out to a 12-6 lead in the first 5:19 of the contest, but Maryland responded with a 10-2 run to take a 16-14 lead at the 11-minute mark.

The Terrapins held a 27-25 lead, but Pittsburgh closed the half with a 13-5 burst to open up a 38-32 lead at intermission on the strength of 21 points from Jason Maile.
