Maryland Captures Franklin Nat'l Bank Classic With Victory Over No. 25 George Washington
LANDOVER, Md. - Keith Booth scored 20 of his 29 points in the
second half to carry unbeaten Maryland past George Washington
74-68 in the championship game of the Franklin National Bank
Classic Monday night.
Booth, who made 12 free throws in the
second half, made two from the line with 2:18 left to put Maryland
(6-0) up 65-61, and the Colonials never got closer than three
points after that. Booth also recorded a game-high 12 rebounds, to record the double-double.
Alexander Koul led George Washington with 24
points and 11 rebounds and Yegor Mescheriakov had 19 points. The Colonials (5-2) lost
to Maryland in the consolation game of last year's tournament at
the USAir Arena.
Maryland opens up ACC action on Thurs., Dec. 12 against Georgia
Tech at Cole Field House at 8 p.m. (EST).
