College of Charleston Ends Maryland's Season

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The 12th-seeded College of Charleston extended the nation's longest winning streak to 23 games, upsetting fifth seed Maryland, 75-66, in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Southeast Region at the Pyramid in Memphis, Tennessee.

Stacy Harris scored 22 points to pace College of Charleston (29-2), which extended the streak of 12th seeds winning first-round games to nine years. The Cougars evened their record against Atlantic Coast Conference teams in the NCAA Tournament at 1-1. Charleston fell to Wake Forest, 68-58, in 1994.

Keith Booth scored 18 points to lead Maryland (21-11), which was bounced from the NCAA Tournament in the first round for the second straight year. The Terrapins were ousted by Santa Clara, 91-79, in a West Region first-round game last season.

The Terrapins concluded their season with five losses in six games. Starting guards Terrell Stokes and Laron Profit did not start after violating team rules.
