As a Freshman: Indoor- Competed in the weight throw and shot put…finished seventh in the shot put and eighth in the weight throw at the Thomson Invitational…season-best shot put throw of 43-8.5 set at the ACC Championships…Outdoor- Competed in the shot put, discus and hammer at the Maryland Invitational…finished fifth in the shot put and hammer and seventh in the discus at that meet.

Before Maryland: Attended Gwynn Park High School in Brandywine, Md., where he won varsity letters in track and football…senior track team was 3A State Champions…was junior varsity football captain his sophomore year…named to 2nd team All-County Defensive team in football, and team was state 2A runner-up…won seventh in discus at outdoor track state championships his sophomore year…named Athlete of the Year his senior year…served as captain of the track team…was All-County in indoor and outdoor track…won fourth in shot put at indoor and outdoor state championships…won the Army National Guard Scholar Athlete Award…bests: shot put: 49-6; Discus: 136-6; 200: 23.7.

Personal: Steven Andre Williams…born April 19, 1984…son of Herbert and Linda Williams…has one brother, Derrick, and two sisters, Alexandra and Alyssa…father participated in baseball and football for Federal City College…uncle Steven was on track and field team at Arizona State…cousin Cerron Cade played football at Delaware State.
