On Theis: Look for a strong leadership role from Theis this season ... brings veteran experience to the young Terp team ... an outstanding doubles player.

Fall 2003: Battled injuries throughout the fall season ... competed in the Tom Fallon Invitational while rehabbing ... added depth in the singles and doubles lineups.

Spring 2003: Played mostly at the No. 6 singles position ... compiled a 3-7 record in his first season at Maryland ... teamed up with fellow newcomer Pierre Rudder, in doubles play.

Before Maryland: A four-year letterwinner at Jefferson ... state team champion as a freshman ... state team doubles champion as a sophomore ... two time all-conference selection ... captain of his team 1999-2000.

Personal: Rory Sean Theis ... born November 22, 198l ... son of Don and Peg Theis ... transferred from UMass near the end of the fall 2002 season ... has a sister Raynie (20) that is a member of West Virginia's women's tennis team ... has appeared on the ACC honor roll as well as being named to the Dean's List at Maryland ... his favorite athlete is Aron "Slim Daddy" Gortman because of his athletic talent ... his biggest thrill was winning the "world's best air guitarist" award ... admires his dog, Rasamaron, the most because of how good her life is ... nicknamed "Big-Perm" and "Sweetums" ... chose Maryland because of the business school and to be apart of the ACC.
