Maryland Vs Temple Post Game Notes

Tonight's double 100-yard rushing performance by Brian Underwood (114) and LaMont Jordan (135) marked the seventh time in school history two Terps rushed for over 100 yards each. The last time this happened was on Oct. 19, 1996 when Harold Westley (120) and Buddy Rodgers (106) each gained over 100 yards.

LaMont Jordan's 135 rushing yards was mostt by a Maryland freshman. (the previous mark was 126 by Steve Atkins vs UVA in 1975) Lewis Sanders' three interceptions are the most by a Terp since Lendell Jones intercepted four balls against Duke on October 23, 1982. Jones' mark is also the ACC record.

Underwood's Career night:
1. Most yards gained: (previous high was 92 yards vs Tulane on September 2, 1995)
2. Longest rush: 37-yard touchdown run (previous best was a 35-yard touchdown run against Tulane on September 2, 1995)
3. First two-touchdown performance of his career.

Brad Rhodes set a career mark by converting a 37-yard field goal in the third quarter. It was also Maryland's first goal on the year.

Brian Kopka's successful PAT's qualified him as only the third freshman kicker in school history to play. Jess Atkinson (1981) and Dan Plocki (1985) are the other two freshman to compete at the kicker position.
