Maryland No Match for 24th-ranked West Virginia
COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Amos Zereoue rushed for 145 yards and a touchdown and converted
cornerback Pat Greene ran an interception back 49 yards for a
score as 24th-ranked West Virginia defeated Maryland, 31-14.
Marc Bulger threw for two touchdowns for the Mountaineers (5-1),
who scored their first two TD's in a span of 1:13 bridging the
first and second quarters. Zereoue, who carried the ball 30
times, has 896 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns this season.
Brian Cummings threw for a touchdown and Buddy Rodgers ran for
one for Maryland (2-4), which has lost seven of the last 10
games between the schools. The Terrapins committed three
turnovers.
West Virginia leads the series, 17-16-2, and is 9-8-1 at
Maryland.
