Three Terps To Play In All-Star Games
COLLEGE PARK, Md.-- Three Maryland seniors have been invited to
participate in two postseason all-star games. Wide receiver Geroy Simon
will play in the Kelly Tires Blue-Gray Classic on Christmas Day in
Montgomery, Ala., while safeties Chad Scott and A.J. Johnson will play
in the Senior Bowl on Jan. 18 in Mobile, Ala.
Simon, who finished second in school history in career receptions (185)
and reception yardage (2,059) will attempt to become the third Terp
since 1992 to be named MVP of the Blue-Gray Classic. Maryland
quarterbacks John Kaleo and Scott Milanovich accomplished the task in
1992 and 1996, respectively.
Scott's five interceptions this year placed him second in the conference
and 14th in the nation. Johnson's 12 career picks place him sixth in
school history.
Also, ABC will air a mini documentary on Tim Strachan at halftime of the
Blue-Gray Classic. The feature will cover the daily challenges Strachan
faces as a quadriplegic while attending to his responsibilities as
Maryland's student coach and sideline reporter.
