Commitment to Excellence
The University of Maryland athletics department continued in 2009-10 to show its excellence across its vast array of varsity teams.

Highlighted by national championships in women?™s lacrosse and competitive cheer, the Terrapins were again one of the nation?™s most versatile and broad-based programs.

Maryland teams won six regular-season or tournament championships in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Men?™s basketball, field hockey, wrestling and women?™s lacrosse teams finished atop the league standings in their sports. Field hockey and women?™s lacrosse earned championships in ACC postseason play.

Eighteen teams earned trips to postseason competition, once again showing Maryland?™s excellence in a variety of sports.

Based on its finishes in NCAA national championships, Maryland finished in the top 30 in the nation among Division I institutions in the Learfield Sports Directors Cup sponsored by NACDA.
