ROSEMONT, Ill. – After leading the No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team to a 17-0 regular-season record and the conference title, Taylor Cummings earned Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honors.
In a 13-10 win over No. 7 Penn State to clinch the Big Ten Championship, Cummings scored a game-high four goals, including the first two scores just 46 seconds into the game. She also posted 10 draw controls and four ground balls, and caused four turnovers.
Cummings is currently second in the nation with 81 points and third in the country with 4.76 points per game. She leads the conference with 7.12 draw controls per game. 1.76 caused turnovers per game and 2.18 ground balls per game.
This is Cummings’ fifth offensive player of the week honors. She was named the conference’s top defensive player last week, and is the only player to have earned both distinctions.
The top-seeeded Terps will take on either No. 4 seed Ohio State or fifth-seeded Rutgers in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals Friday. Opening draw is scheduled for approximately 8 p.m. in Piscataway, N.J.
