#1 Terps Host Rutgers in Inaugural Home B1G Game

The No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team (11-0, 1-0 B1G) plays host to new conference foe Rutgers (1-11, 0-1) on Saturday. Opening draw is scheduled for noon.
- The Terrapins-Scarlet Knights game will be live streamed on BTN Plus.

- Maryland is hosting Diabetes Awareness Day Saturday vs. Rutgers. An auction will be held to raise money for JDRF, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for type 1 diabetes.
- The cause is close to the Terrapins' hearts as Cathy Reese's son, Riley, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes three years ago. Freshman Shelby Scanlin has lived with type 1 for 11 years.
- For the inaugural Big Ten home game, fans can purchase a B1G Four Pack of tickets and Maryland Pride wristbands for just $12.
- Saturday is also U.S. Lacrosse Day, and all U.S. Lacrosse members will receive free admission with a membership card.

- The Terps are averaging 13.91 goals per game while limiting opponents to 6.27 goals per game, which is the fourth-ranked scoring defense in the country. Maryland has allowed more than seven goals only twice this season (11 vs. North Carolina, 10 vs. James Madison).

- Candice Dandridge has started every game in goal and holds a 12.96 goals-against average and a .394 save percentage.

- Cummings’ impressive outing included four goals, five assists, five ground balls, six draw controls and three caused turnovers. Megan Whittle also scored four times while Brooke Griffin notched two goals and Zoe Stukenberg and Taylor Hensh each scored once.
- Goalkeeper Alex Fitzpatrick made six saves in the game.

- Junior midfielder Taylor Cummings, the reigning Tewaaraton winner, has made her presense known across the field as she leads the Terps in nearly every major stat category.
- Cummings currently leads Maryland in assists (22), points (56), shots (72), ground balls (23), draw controls (81) and caused turnovers (21), and is second on the team in goals (34).
- The Ellicott City, Md., native is first in the Big Ten and fifth nationally in draw controls/game (7.36). She is first in the conference and fourth nationally in points/game (5.09). Cummings also leads the conference and is 11th nationally in caused turnovers/game (1.91).
fitzpatrick makes statement with terps
- A transfer from Lehigh, redshirt senior Alex Fitzpatrick has led the Terps in goal. Fitzpatrick has started all 11 games and has played 565 minutes in the cage.
- Fitzpatrick boasts a 5.73 goals-against average and .534 save percentage. Her GAA is good for fifth in the nation and first in the conference, while her save percentage is ranked fourth in the NCAA and first in the Big Ten.
- Fitzpatrick allowed a season-low two goals against Towson, and kept the Tigers off the board completely in the second half. She also recorded a season-best 10 saves against Towson.

- Freshman Megan Whittle has made an immediate impact for the Terps in her first season.
- Whittle has scored 37 goals in 11 games, which ranks first on the team. It also puts her at 11th in the nation in total goals.
- Whittle was named to the Tewaaraton Watch List earlier in March. She is the only freshman on the prestigious list.
- Whittle has been named the conference’s Freshman of the Week four times, the most of any honoree. She was also named ILWomen.com’s Freshman of the Week once.
- The attacker came to Maryland as the top-ranked member of her class by Inside Lacrosse.

six terrapins named to tewaaraton watch list
- Taylor Cummings, Megan Douty, Brooke Griffin, Kelly McPartland and Alice Mercer were named to the 2015 Tewaaraton Watch List in February.
- Megan Whittle was added to the watch list in March and is the only freshman on the list.
- The six Terps are the most players from any program named to the 53-player watch list.
- All five upperclassmen were named Inside Lacrosse preseason All-Americans.
- Cummings is the reigning Tewaaraton Award winner, while Douty was a finalist last season.
