Wannen, Hadnagy Earn Weekly Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After leading the No. 1 Maryland lacrosse team to a dominant 14-4 win over No. 2 Florida last Saturday, junior attacker Caroline Wannen and junior defender Nadine Hadnagy were named Big Ten Offensive and Co-Defensive Player of the Week, respectively, by the conference Tuesday.
Wannen was also named the Inside Lacrosse/StringKing National Player of the Week.
Against the Gators, Wannen scored a career-high four goals and added three assists. She also caused one turnover and picked up one ground ball. Wannen tied her career high for assists and set a personal best with seven points.
Hadnagy helped limit Florida’s potent offense to just four goals. She tallied a career-high five ground balls and caused two turnovers. Hadnagy leads the Big Ten with 2.83 ground balls per game.
This is the first time Wannen and Hadnagy have earned Big Ten honors in their careers.
Hadnagy shares Defensive Player of the Week with Penn State’s Madison Cyr. Rutger’s Abbey Brooks was named Freshman of the Week.
The Terps (6-0) travel to No. 14 Penn (6-1, 1-0 Ivy League) Wednesday at 7 p.m.
