COLLEGE PARK, Md. – For the second straight season, the No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team will host a JDRF Awareness Game when the team takes on James Madison on March 26 at 2 p.m.
“We are so excited to support JDRF again this season,” head coach Cathy Reese said. “This cause is so close to our family and team, and we’re looking forward to helping raise awareness and money for such an amazing organization.”
JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes research. JDRF accelerated life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type 1 diabetes and its complications.
The Terrapins will hold a silent auction during the game, featuring various Maryland gear, with proceeds benefitting JDRF. This season, fans can purchase replicas of the Terps’ blue shooting shirts. Fans can either have the shirts delivered or available for pickup at the game on the 26th. Click here to purchase a shirt or to donate.
JDRF and finding the cure for type 1 diabetes is an important cause for Maryland women’s lacrosse as head coach Cathy Reese’s son, Riley, was diagnosed with type 1 four years ago. Click here to read a letter from Cathy and her husband, Brian, about the effect JDRF has had on the Reeses.
The Terps raised $12,159 last season in their inaugural JDRF fundraiser last season.
The Maryland-James Madison game will be live streamed on BTN Plus.
