Jones, SWK Rack Up All-America Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Juniors Brionna Jones and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough of the Big Ten champion Maryland women’s basketball team picked up more national honors this weekend, as they were both earned Honorable Mention All-America honors from the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association.

Walker-Kimbrough was one of 10 of the nation’s top players named an All-American by the U.S. Basketball Writer Association.

Jones and Walker-Kimbrough led the Terps in scoring and rebounding. Walker-Kimbrough averaged 19.5 points with 6.0 rebounds, while leading the NCAA with her three-point field goal percentage of 54.5 percent. Her 681 points scored this season were the second-highest season point total in program history.

Jones averaged 15.2 points with 9.8 boards per game. She led the nation with her field goal percentage of 66.5 percent. Her career field goal percentage of 63.0 is second in the Maryland record books, only to Crystal Langhorne.

Both Jones and Walker-Kimbrough were a named to the All-Big Ten First Team by both the coaches and the media and Walked-Kimbrough was voted to the All-Big Ten Defensive Team. She was voted Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player.

They helped lead the Terrapins to a 31-4 record, reaching 30 wins for the sixth time in head coach Brenda Frese’s 14 seasons. They made their sixth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and won their second straight back-to-back Big Ten regular season and tournament titles.
