Hadnagy Added to Tewaaraton Watch List

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Junior defender Nadine Hadnagy was added to the Tewaaraton Watch List Friday, as announced by the Tewaaraton Foundation.
Hadnagy is the fifth Terp on the watch list. Senior midfielder Taylor Cummings, senior defender Alice Mercer, junior midfielder Zoe Stukenberg and sophomore attacker Megan Whittle were added to the initial list on Feb. 23.
A junior co-captain, Hadnagy helps lead Maryland’s defense, which is allowing just 6.82 goals per game. The Farmingdale, N.Y., native ranks second on the Terps with 24 ground balls and also has 11 caused turnovers.
Maryland has won five of the last six Tewaaraton Awards. Caitlyn McFadden captured the honor in 2010, while Katie Schwarzmann became the Terrapins’ first two-time winner in 2012 and 2013. Cummings has won the last two Tewaaraton Awards. Jen Adams won the first-ever Tewaaraton in 2001.
On April 28, the field will be narrowed to 25 men’s and 25 women’s nominees. Nominees can be players on the watch lists or players not on the watch lists, effectively allowing for a third round of additions.
Five men’s and five women’s finalists will be announced on May 12 and invited to the ceremony. The 16th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 2.
