Steele Named B1G Freshman of the Week

ROSEMONT, Ill. – After helping the No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team to a 10-9 win over No. 13 Penn State and the Big Ten regular season title, attacker Caroline Steele was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Against the Nittany Lions, Steele scored three goals on three shots in the first half. This season, Steele is fourth on the team with 28 goals and 34 points. The Severna Park, Md., native recorded 12 goals in five conference games.
This is Steele’s second freshman of the week award after earning the honor in the Terps’ first week of the season on Feb. 16.
The Terps travel to Evanston, Ill., for the Big Ten Tournament this weekend. Top-seeded Maryland will face either No. 4-seed Rutgers or No. 5-seed Ohio State in the semifinals Friday at 6:30 p.m.
