Maryland to Host Bowie State in Exhibition

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Maryland women’s basketball team will host local opponent Bowie State in the Terps’ final exhibition matchup Friday at 6 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. Admission is free and parking is free after 4 p.m.
The matchup will not be streamed online, but live stats will be available here.
In the Terps’ first exhibition vs. Glenville State Sunday, sophomores Kaila Charles and Stephanie Jones both finished with 27 points. Six different Terrapins would finish in double figures on the day, including freshman Channise Lewis in her first career game at the XFINITY Center.
Charles was selected to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team by both the league’s head coaches and media panel earlier last month.
Ohio State was selected to win the Big Ten by both the coaches and the media, with the Terrapins selected to finish second. Michigan was picked to finish third by the head coaches and tie Maryland for second by the media.
Head coach Brenda Frese and the Terrapins begin the season ranked No. 13 in the USA Today Sports Preseason Coaches poll.
The Terps represented the USA in the World University games this summer in Taipei, Taiwan. The U.S. went 5-1 in the tournament, earning wins over Canada, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Poland and Uganda.
The Bulldogs were picked to win the CIAA North Conference this season. Last year, they went 22-8 and 11-5 in conference play. Bowie State's Kiara Colston and Kyah Proctor were named to the Preseason All-Conference Team.
Maryland will officially open its 2017-18 season on Friday, Nov. 10 vs. NCAA Tournament team Albany. The Terrapins and the Great Danes will tip off at 7 p.m. at the XFINITY Center. Later that weekend, Maryland will welcome 2017 NCAA Champion South Carolina to College Park on Monday, Nov. 13.
