Kift, Griffin Earn Big Ten Weekly Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After helping the No. 1 Maryland women’s lacrosse team to a 17-4 win over then-No. 16 Johns Hopkins last Sunday, senior goalie Emily Kift and freshman attacker Brindi Griffin earned Big Ten weekly honors Tuesday. Kift was named Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Week while Griffin was selected as Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

In her first start of the season, Kift made a career high saves and posted a .714 save percentage against the Blue Jays. She also picked up one ground ball.

Griffin set a personal best with three points (2G, 1A) against Hopkins. She also notched two ground balls and one caused turnover.

These are the first career honors for Kift and Griffin. Kift shared the award with Michigan’s Mira Shane.

The Terps (7-0) close a four-game home stand against No. 11 Penn (6-1) on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
