COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team (10-0, 1-0 B1G) hosts its annual Type 1 Diabetes Awareness game against Michigan (4-8, 1-1) Saturday at noon.

• The Terps-Wolverines game will be streamed on BTN Plus.

• Parking in all lots is free Saturday.

TERPS TO HOST THIRD ANNUAL TYPE 1 DIABETES AWARENESS GAME

• Maryland will host its third annual Type 1 Diabetes Awareness game when the Terps host Michigan this Saturday.

• Every season, the Terps raise money and wear blue warnups for one game to raise awareness for Type 1 diabetes.

• Head coach Cathy Reese’s oldest son, Riley, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Last season, Maryland raised more than $15,500 after raising more than $12,000 in their first effort in 2015.

• Sophomore goalie Megan Taylor made a career-high 20 saves as the Terps defeated No. 3 Florida, 18-8, Wednesday.

• Senior midfielder Zoe Stukenberg scored five goals on five shots and had a career-high nine draw controls.

• Senior attacker Caroline Wannen made four assists and sophomore attacker Caroline Steele, junior attacker Megan Whittle and freshman attacker Brindi Griffin each had hat tricks against the Gators.

• The Wolverines are coming off a 10-9 win over Winthrop last weekend.

• Kim Coughlan leads Michigan with 21 goals while Jess Angerman has a team-high 13 assists and 33 points. Five Wolverines are in double-digit points this season.

• Michigan is in its fourth season as a program. The Wolverines' head coach, Jennifer Ulehla, graduated from Maryland in 1991.

• Maryland is 112-2 in College Park under head coach Cathy Reese

• The Terps have won all eight games in which they have played an opponent ranked No. 1 or 2 at home in the past eight seasons.

•  Maryland is currently on a 58-game win streak at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex and hasn’t lost in College Park since March 10, 2012. The Terrapins are 249-16 in College Park, dating back to 1990.

hartshorn earns b1g, national honors

• Midfielder Kali Hartshorn was selected as the Big Ten Freshman of the Week Tuesday. She was also named Inside Lacrosse’s National Rookie of the Week.

• In an 11-7 win over then-No. 11 Penn last Wednesday, Hartshorn scored a hat trick and tallied six draw controls and two ground balls. In a 16-11 win at James Madison, the Allentown, N.J., native notched four points (3G, 1A) and grabbed five draw controls.

• Hartshorn leads the Terps with 47 draw controls and is fourth on the team with 18 goals an 23 points.

taylor backlining terps in second season

• Sophomore goalie Megan Taylor has emerged as one of the nation's top netminders this season.

• The Glenelg, Md., native leads the nation with a .596 save percentage and is seventh nationally with an 8.14 goals against average. Taylor is also fifth in saves per game at 11.33 and ninth in total saves with 102 on the season.

• Taylor made a career-high 20 saves and held a .714 save percentage against No. 3 Florida. In games against top-five opponents this season, Taylor is averaging 16 saves per game with a .658 save percentage.

• Maryland is once again one of the top teams in the nation on both offense and defense.

• The Terps rank first nationally on offense with 16.10 goals per game. Maryland is ninth in the country on defense, allowing just 8.30 goals per game.

• Maryland is second in the nation with a 7.80 goals differential.
