Terps Sweep Big Ten Weekly Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After leading the No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team to a win over Northwestern and the Big Ten regular season title, three Terps swept the conference's weekly awards. Junior attacker Caroline Steele was named Offensive Player of the Week, senior defender Nadine Hadnagy was selected as Defensive Player of the Week and midfielder Lizzie Colson earned Freshman of the Week honors.
Steele set a career high with six goals and tied her career high of seven points in an 18-9 win over the Wildcats. Hadnagy posted four caused turnovers and two ground balls while Colson notched two caused turnovers and three ground balls against Northwestern.
Steele is the fourth different Terp to receive Offensive honors this season while Hadnagy is the fourth Terrapin to be named Defensive Player of the Week. Colson is the third different Maryland player to earn Freshman of the Week accolades.
The top-ranked Terps (17-0) will host the Big Ten Tournament this weekend as the No. 1 seed. Maryland will face fourth-seeded Johns Hopkins (11-6) Friday at 6 p.m. in the semifinals.
