Six Terps Earn All-America Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland men’s lacrosse senior midfielder Connor Kelly was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) First Team All-American for the second straight season, leading a group of six Terrapins named All-America Thursday.
Kelly was joined by senior defender Bryce Young (2nd Team), sophomore attackman Jared Bernhardt (3rd Team), junior defender Curtis Corley (Honorable Mention), senior goalkeeper Dan Morris (Honorable Mention) and senior midfielder Tim Rotanz (Honorable Mention).
Maryland now has a nation’s best 53 USILA All-Americans since head coach John Tillman took over the program in 2011, including at least five every season.
Kelly is the first Terrapin midfielder to earn First Team All-America back-to-back seasons since Bill McGlone achieved the feat (2005-06).
Kelly has pieced together one of the best seasons in Maryland history, becoming the first midfielder (and second player overall) to record 40 goals and 30 assists in a season. His 78 points currently ranks fourth in Maryland history.
Now a two-time USILA All-American, Young overcame injury at the beginning of the season to total 21 ground balls and cause 11 turnovers. He has also been excellent in transition, posting a career-best five points on two goals and three assists.
Also a newly minted two-time USILA All-American, Bernhardt had a career-best season posting 54 points on 38 goals and 16 assists. Bernhardt was fantastic on the power play all season, leading the Big Ten Conference with seven man-up goals.
Corley was named an All-American for the first time in his career after a dominating season which often included covering the opposing team’s top offensive threat. Corley has posted 12 ground balls and caused 13 turnovers this season.
Morris earned All-America honors in his second season between the pipes as the Terrapin goaltender. Morris has stopped 53-percent of shots on the season, while making 171 saves. He is the sixth Maryland goalie in the last seven years to earn All-America.
Rotanz was also named an All-American for the second straight season, having posted 19 goals and 19 assists on the season. One of the most efficient players in the country, Rotanz has scored on 43 percent of his shots and leads the team with a point in 31 consecutive games.
