Maryland Golf Course
An 18-hole semi-private championship golf course located on the north perimeter of the University of Maryland's flagship campus in College Park, the University of Maryland Golf Course is the home of the Terrapins' men's and women's golf teams.
Open year-round, the par-71 - 7,000+ yard championship course was completed in 1959, with the clubhouse in April 1999, and features a clubhouse, locker rooms, and a conference room. The course has long been the site of numerous state and regional tournaments, including the Melwood Prince George’s County Open, a Korn-Ferry Tour event in 2010 and 2011. The 35,000-square-foot clubhouse has become a gathering point for campus and surrounding communities as well.
The clubhouse upper level features a full-service bar, grill, and banquet facility that seats 75 for lunch and tournament events and can handle groups from eight to 200, including a banquet facility whose outdoor patio overlooks the course. Its main level features management offices, a fully-equipped pro shop with the latest styles of Maryland golf attire, men's and women's locker facilities, and a Maryland Golf suite with coaches offices, separate locker rooms for both teams, and a lounge for the Terps' men's and women's teams.
Designed by George W. Cobb and built in 1958, renovated in 2008 by Bill Love, the course plays 35,000 rounds per year with preference given to students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Its semi-private facilities include a 5,000-square foot putting green, short game area, and a 45-station driving range with bermuda grass practice tees. The course is home to the Maryland Golf’s Holman Short Game Practice Facility.
