Dec. 28, 2000
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF.- - In the Terps' final non-conference game of the year, host San Francisco downed Maryland 72-59 Thursday night. Maryland enters the New Year at 9-3, with San Francisco raising its record to 5-4.
Maryland struggled early and really never caught a good rhythm, trailing by as many as 12 in the first half. The Dons' Lindsey Huff was on fire in the opening stanza, leading her team with 11 points. March? Strickland and Renneika Razor both had eight points to start the Terps off offensively.
The second half led to more of the same, with the Dons' Kim Whisler leading San Francisco with 13 second-half points, including an 8-8 performance from the line. Razor tried to keep Maryland in it down the stretch, scoring 13 more points for a game-high 21. Eventually, San Francisco pulled away for the 13-point win, sending Maryland home with a 1-1 record on their West Coast swing.
Maryland's next game is a home contest on Jan. 2 against Clemson. The match-up marks the return to ACC play, where the Terps are 0-1 after a loss to North Carolina in early December. Gametime is 7:30 p.m.
