Tips on How to Win Scholarships
#1: Meet The Requirements
Identify scholarships with qualifications that you meet. Then focus your time on applying to awards in which you meet the necessary criteria.
#2: Apply For All Scholarships
Apply to all scholarships you are eligible for regardless of award amount. Avoid only focusing on the larger awards, as the smaller ones may have a less competitive applicant pool.
#3: Do The Work
Applications take time. Be prepared to put in the time and effort to apply to all scholarships even those with a lengthy application process. It will be worth it!
#4: Make Sure to Answer The Full Prompt
Make sure to answer the full question and leave no part out. This may distinguish you from other applicants.
#5: Proofread
Make sure to proofread your application in order to catch any errors or missed parts. It may also be helpful to have someone you trust double check your work.
#6: Stand Out
Find different ways to stand out. Participating in different organizations or volunteering may help set you apart from the other applicants.
#7: Apply Early
Avoid waiting until the last minute to apply. Start applying early and give yourself ample time to complete the applications.
#8: Do the Research
Make sure to do your research. Start early and find out what scholarships are out there. Once you find a scholarship you are interested in applying to, go to the scholarship provider’s website and learn about their values. Customize your application to fit what they are looking for.
#9: Do Not Just Apply For 1 or 2 Scholarships
Apply for as many scholarships as possible. The more you apply for, the greater your chances are of receiving one.
#10: Do Not Give Up
Never give up! It can be discouraging if you are not selected to receive a scholarship but stay with it and keep applying to new ones.
