Matthew Wisniewski was promoted to Strategic Communications Assistant in January 2026. In his role, he serves as the primary media contact for Maryland's softball and field hockey programs. He previously worked with the Terrapins' track & field program before assuming responsibilities for softball and field hockey in July 2026.
Wisniewski joined Maryland Athletics as a student intern in August 2025, assisting the strategic communications staff with media relations, game-day operations and communications efforts across multiple athletic programs.
Prior to Maryland, Wisniewski spent nearly two years with Coastal Carolina Athletics, beginning as a student intern in the spring of 2024. During his time with the Chanticleers, he worked with 10 varsity programs, with an emphasis on baseball, football and soccer. He also served as the lead student media relations assistant for Coastal Carolina's baseball team during its run to the 2025 College World Series Championship Series.
A graduate of Coastal Carolina University, Wisniewski earned a bachelor's degree in Recreation and Sport Management in December 2025. A native of Odenton, Maryland, he played two seasons of collegiate baseball as a pitcher at Anne Arundel Community College before transferring to Coastal Carolina.
