Biography

As a Senior in 2017: One of three team captains with Chase Gasper and Jake Rozhansky...played in 17 games and started 16 at right back...helped the Terps register nine total shutouts...opened the season with starts at Santa Clara (8/25) and against Hofstra (8/28) and UCLA (9/1)...played 110 minutes in a draw against No. 3 Indiana (9/8)...started in Maryland's unbeaten streak against Rurgers (9/12), at Penn State (9/17), UMBC (9/26)...Northwestern (9/29)...at UConn (10/2), at Ohio State (10/6) and at Wisconsin (10/13)...started the Terps Big Ten Quarterfinal against WIsconsin (11/5) and NCAA Tournament First Round game against Albany (11/16).

As a Junior in 2016: Appeared in all 21 games, starting in two, for the Big Ten champion Terrapins...recorded three goals and two assists...nailed a penalty kick attempt during a 5-0 victory over Hartford (8/29)…scored a goal in a 4-0 blowout victory over Northwestern (9/30)…notched an assist in a 2-0 shutout win over San Diego (10/3)....scored against Michigan in the Big Ten quarterfinals (11/6).

As a Sophomore in 2015: Has played in 13 matches for the Terps...posted the first hat trick for a Terp since Jason Garey (2005) in a 4-3 victory at Penn State (10/9)...was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts against the Nittany Lions...played a role in a 2-1 victory over #1 UCLA (9/4)...contributed to a 0-0 tie against #4 Notre Dame (8/28)...helped in shutout victories over St. John's (8/30), Michigan (9/11), Michigan State (9/18) and Villanova (10/5).

As a Freshman in 2014: Appeared in 20 games, notching nine starts…scored four goals in the final seven games for the Terps, including scores vs. Santa Clara (10/25), Ohio State (11/1), at Rutgers (11/5), and vs. Rutgers in the Big Ten Tournament (11/9).

Before Maryland: NSCAA Boys High School National Player of the Year for undefeated McDonogh in 2013-14… All-State, All-Metro, All-South, All-Conference and All-American for the 2013-14 season…also led McDonogh to MIAA championship with 23 goals and 15 assists…ESPN Fab 50 High School National Champions…All-State, All-Metro, All-South, All-Conference, VSN Player of the Year and Gatorade Boys Soccer Maryland Player of the Year in 2012-13…coached by Steve Nichols…also competed for Nichols with Baltimore Bays Chelsea & Baltimore Celtic.

Personal: George James Campbell Jr. was born August 4, 1995 in Baltimore...son of George Sr. and Teresa Campbell...has two sisters, Chelsea and Ariel and one brother, Willy...came to Maryland because he ‘loved the school, the coaches, the program and everything they stand for on and off the field’...would play lacrosse if he could play any other sport at Maryland...major is business.
