Garrett Nixon, a 2015 graduate of the University of Maryland, was promoted to Associate Director of Development in September 2021. He enters his 12th school year with Maryland in 2026-27.
In his role, Nixon focuses on the cultivation and solicitation of major gifts to support capital projects, scholarship endowment, current use priorities, and planned giving efforts.
Nixon served as Assistant Director of Annual Giving (2018-21), Development Coordinator (2016-18), Development Assistant (2015-16) and Terrapin Club intern (2014-15) before assuming this full-time role.
Nixon comes from a proud family of Terps. Nixon received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Maryland in 2015, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland Global Campus in 2020, and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the University of Maryland in 2021.
Born in Annapolis, Nixon now resides in Crownsville with his wife Ashley. He likes to travel, golf, and vacation in Ocean City.
