    Learning Specialist/Academic Counselor (Tennis)
Anna DeSalvo joined the Gossett Student Athlete Center in July of 2021 as a Learning Specialist for Olympic Sports and Athletic Academic Counselor for the Women’s Tennis program. In her role as Learning Specialist, she works individually with students to cater to their academic needs and learning styles and ensure that they are receiving necessary support in order to be successful in the classroom. 

Before coming to Maryland, DeSalvo received her Masters of Science in School Counseling from Mississippi State University where she served as a Graduate Assistant for the Office of Athletic Academics at MSU. She primarily worked with the Mississippi State football and baseball programs as well as interned with the school counseling department at Starkville High School. 

DeSalvo is a 2018 graduate of the University of Central Florida earning her Bachelor of Science in Social Science Education. While attending UCF, she was an Academic Mentor for the UCF Knights football program for two year as well as interned and was a long-term substitute teacher in the social studies department at Hagerty High School in Oviedo, Florida. 

A native of Jacksonville, Florida, DeSalvo resides in Laurel, and is engaged to Patrick Mayo. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling to national and state parks, going on food adventures in nearby towns, listening to podcasts and audiobooks while taking a walk,  and cooking and baking her way through any cookbook she can find.
