Alex Steinman joined the University of Maryland (UMD) in 2011. He is currently the Director of Grounds for the Athletic Department, overseeing maintenance of the Department’s synthetic turf and natural grass playing surfaces. These fields include those for men's and women's soccer, football, men's and women’s lacrosse, women's field hockey, softball, baseball and track & field.
In his time at UMD, Alex has held other positions on campus, including Sports Turf Manager for University Recreation & Wellness. Additionally, he serves as the assistant coach for the UMD "Turf Terps." In this role, Alex helps coach teams of students—from both the two-year Institute of Applied Agriculture (IAA) and the four-year Plant Science and Landscape Architecture (PSLA) programs—as they prepare for national turf bowl competitions.
Alex graduated from Penn State University in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Science.
