Cara Thomas joined University of Maryland as an Assistant Athletic Trainer in 2020 and in 2025, began working with the Women’s Tennis team. From 2020-2025, she was the athletic trainer for the women’s Field Hockey team.
Her current administrative duties include being the clinical immersion coordinator for MAT immersion students, leading the education group, residing on the Eating Disorder Management team and teaching First Aid/CPR/AED to the sports medicine, athletics and UHC staff members.
Before coming to Maryland, Cara spent four years at Rutgers University, where she served as the Assistant Athletic Trainer with Women’s Field Hockey and Softball. Prior to that, she worked as an Assistant Athletic Trainer at Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA from 2014-2016.
Thomas received her Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from Ohio University in 2014. While at Ohio, Thomas served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the Women’s Field Hockey team. Cara received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from the University of New Hampshire in 2012.
Cara currently resides in Annapolis, Maryland, with her husband, Ben and daughter, Harper.
