Jason Smith joined the Maryland Athletics Equiptment Department in May 2021. He enters his sixth school year with the department, holding the title of Director of Football Equipment Operations.

Smith began working in equipment in 2011 as an intern with Villanova University. He then became an Assistant Equipment Manager at San Jose State University before returning to Villanova, where he held the same role from 2013-16. From 2016-20, Smith worked at Rutgers University as a Athletic Equipment Manager.
