Jon Brown joined the Terrapin Club as Director of Development - Major Gifts in May 2023. He enters his second school year in that role in 2024-25.
In his role, Brown focuses on the cultivation and solicitation of major gifts to support capital projects, scholarship endowment, current use priorities, and planned giving efforts. He brings two decades of development and athletics experience to his position with the Terrapin Club.
Prior to Maryland, Brown served as Assistant Athletic Director for ChargeOn Fund, Major Gifts, at the University of Central Florida. Prior to UCF, Brown served as Director of Major Gifts at the Nittany Lion Club at Penn State (2015-19). He also spent six years (2009-15) at Furman University as the Assistant Director of the Paladin Club, securing both Annual Fund and Major Gift support for athletics. In addition, Brown spent time at Baylor (2007-09) and Clemson (2003-05) in strategic communications roles.
Brown holds a Bachelor of Sciences degree from Furman University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Clemson University. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, he resides in Laurel, Md. with his wife Jessica, and sons, Maxwell and Samuel.
